Luke’s Leaders is a weekly, after-school leadership development initiative developed by the Outreach and Justice Department of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. The program is dedicated to nurturing and empowering youth to become the next generation of change makers. At Luke’s Leaders, we believe that every young person has the potential to become a leader and make a positive impact in their community. These are just a few words, from parents & students, on what Luke's Leaders has meant to them.
Quotes from Parents:
My child truly gained confidence and communication skills. They have normally been a more "follower" mentality and that significantly shifted over the past several months. I have noticed a large amount of maturity and confidence in public settings and at home. The remaining sessions conflict with my child's schedule and they without wavering told me they wouldn't miss a Luke's Leaders session.
I like the program's focus on community building and service. The community leaders from various organizations that have come in to speak to the students have given the kids a great opportunity to see how they can get involved in our city. I also appreciate the focus on local government and how it runs.
Quotes from Students:
We do lots of fun activities and learn new things and how to help others.
Luke’s leaders has many opportunities to become a better version of yourself and helps build community and leadership skills.
It’s a good way to practice your speaking skills and a good way to learn about your community.
